Bit of my day

Today was great day although there was not much of things happenings. Mostly, I stayed on my room learnig basic arabic words. It is good sometimes to be alone and have some quite time with the Lord.

The whole day to make the most of my time while waiting, I was organizing things for making procedure manual while listening to the some good music. I had fun. Sometimes it is nice to be alone.
For the days to come I will be busy with paper works and arabic lessons. I will be attending a language class. I will arrange it this monday. I am excited about it.

Perfect time

I had a great time this afternoon because my sister and I got to chat for a long time. At about dinner time, D cooked a very delicious meal (chicken pie and vegetable salad). yummy. It was so great. I was eating delicious food while I watching the sun setting through the window. What a perfect time for perfect food and perfect sun set.

Then J made a very yummy cake. While waiting for the cake to cool down, she invited me to go out to the pharmacy to buy Deep heat for her muscle sore. But before we went out, I offered her a liniment oil called “Paud de arko” and she rub it on her feet. While we were walking she feels the oil was soothing her legs. I offered to give her the 1 bottle because I have 3 but she said I will need it. So i did force her to have it. We arrived in the pharmacy just about 4 minutes walk. She got what she wanted and it was very expensive. Even it was already about 7pm, the wind is still very warm.

When we arrived we ate the cake and then ready to sleep.

Learning new language

Learning a new language is not easy. We tried to learn but we cannot just learn everything in one day. We just started and we are positive we will learn the language. Great things start from small beginnings.
One thing that surprised me was that our tutor knows how to speak tagalog. Can you imagine that? He did not tell us but he just out of the blue speaking in tagalog to me and I was at first shock I thought he was speaking arabic then only to find out it was tagalog. wow! It was fun. We spoke tagalog to each other once in a while in the class. He knew tagalog because of his filipino friends back in Saudi Arabia for 8 years. I was so impressed of his ability to speak many languages.

I was kind of overwhelmed with the new words. I had a headache afterward. We just had one hour class. Before we went home, he suggested that we need to have 2 hour class since one hour is very short and asked if possible he can have the class in our office. No decision was made yet because we need to ask permission with our boss. The boss said it is okay. We waited for awhile for our driver to come.

After the class, we went back to the guest house and continue reading our book. After awhile, we ordered for our lunch. I ordered lasagne. wow to my surprise it was for 3 persons I think. It was yummy. Then at about 5pm I went back to my room and chatted with my sister.

A bit of my day

I woke early in the morning because we had a language class at 9am. I was excited about it. It was my first time to meet our tutor. 3 of us went to our class. It was just a right time when we arrived, tutor came in. Before our class started, we went to the other room to buy the books we needed. It was so expensive. It is about 30 USD.

Then our class started. Of course, it was started with introduction, what is your name, where are you from etc. We started with personal pronouns, and possessive pronouns. With just that it was already hard because the words change when it is referring to male and female. Anyway, I am very interested to learn the language. It is not easy but it will be worth the effort.

Circle of friends

I just remember this scenario with my friends. It was taken about 8 years ago. We went on a holiday for 3 days. We really had a lot of fun. In this picture we were singing to the top of our lungs. Those were the days. I really miss having time with them. It is sad to say that all of us are very far away from each other. Two of them are already in the US, one in the Philippines and I am in Africa. I am so thankful that we have photos to keep our treasured moments. It is so great to be part of a circle of friends. I wish one day we will be together.

First international flight

International fight.I was so blessed because I was given a chance to experience my first flight that I never think about. It was an opportunity that was dropped right in front of me. The process took long but God worked it out for me. The waiting time was not so easy. It taught me a lot how to be patient and trust God for it. God’s timing is really perfect and will always be.
I was invited by my friend to visit and help her deliver her patients. I felt so privileged because I was one she chose to help her despite her many friends. I really enjoyed my first flight alone. I was very excited. The flight was so long and tiring but I really had a great time. I took some energy supplements and vitamins. I arrived in India at 11pm local time after 10 hours long flight. At first I was a little bit confused about the time difference.

Underarm odor

I have few co-workers who have underarm odor. It is very offensive. It made me more conscious of my own personal hygiene. Health care professionals should be models of good personal hygiene. It is sad to say that many of them have underarm odor. I just hope everyone of us be aware if we have it and do something about it. Having underarm odor will let us down. Normally sweat is odourless, but when acted upon by bacteria it produces an unpleasant smell. Hygiene is very important, with daily bathing and a daily change of clothing a must to stay fresh and odor-free. If you are uncomfortable with the idea of using chemical deodorants, you could try more natural antis-sweat remedies:

1.) Tawas crystal deodorants, which are made from 100 percent natural mineral salts and work by neutralizing odor-causing bacteria. It is gentle enough for sensitive skin and won’t stain clothes or discolour skin.

2.) Non-conventional skin applications of tea tree oil, ginger juice, turnip juice, apple cider vinegar, and radish juice. You can also try adding sea salt or apple cider vinegar to the bath water.

Full day

7/4/09
I woke up early than usual because I need to cook breakfast for my cousin and my aunt. My cousin gave birth few hours ago. We had breakfast together and then prepared the things to go home which is one and a half hour bus drive. We rode on the bus which was very slow. It took us more than two hours to reach to our place.  We ate before we ride a tricycle going to our house. We had our scheduled youth prayer meeting two hours after I arrived home. I slept while waiting for the young people. But only 3 and were late. I just postponed the prayer meeting because I have another appointment. If I do not have the appointment, I plan to have the meeting even there were only 3 of them came. I found out that they thought I was not coming.

India: Day 47

We woke up at around 7am and then prepared to go to the airport. We rode a taxi going to the international airport. It was a sad day but at the same time, it was an excited day to go home. My friend is so nice for giving me extra rupees to pay if I need to pay for my luggage. We were not sure how many kilos was my luggage. Goodbyes are the hardest time. My friend stayed awhile outside the airport so that if there will be problems she is still there to help. After I checked in, I was able to convince the police man that I need go outside to say a final goodbye with my friend and to let her know that I checked in with no problems. I will surely miss her. The times we spent together were priceless that I will surely cherish the rest of my life.

India: Day 46

We did a 1-week check up for Naoko and her baby. All went well. It was the time also to say goodbye. I really like her and her family. She is so sweet. She gave me a cell phone accessory from Japan. It’s so nice. Then My friend and I went back to Kurla to some chocolates to bring home. And then We went to Adheri to visit other client Lalita then we went to Diana at the hospital who had a Cesarean Section because of severe Oligohydramios which means the baby has no more enough bag of water inside in the womb. The baby is so cute. She is recovering well. Then we went to Gesu another client. My friend did a prenatal check up with her and then we had Indian dinner at their house. We were so full then we went home at 10:30pm. We rode rickshaw that took us one hour. It was really a long long day. But it was fulfilling. It was sad though because today is my last day to spend with my friend. I was packing up my things because y flight is tomorrow. I am very excited to go home even though sad for leaving my friend.

India: Day 45

My friend and I took two of the children Samari and Ariff who were having high fever. Then we went to the laboratory for blood work up to rule out malaria and TB. Samaria had a very high fever. We gave her some meds but still the fever was sky high. We went back to the station and let them ate lunch. My friend went to buy the prescribed medications while I stayed in the station doing sponge bath and cold compress to Samaria. Before we went home, the fever subsided.

India: Day 44

We were off today. We woke up late and then washed clothes. I was checking my emails and I received a message from my sister that made me cry. She was pouring out how she feels about our youngest sister’s wedding. She was not sure about her feelings about it. She is the one closest to my sis who is going to be married. She also stating that she was not sure what God’s plan for her life. I can’t help but to cry. My friend was wondering what happen to me and asked if I was okay. I told her I was I just need to cry. We planned to have a dinner out and she asked me if we will still go. I told her we still go even my eyes were bulging. We had a great time.

I want to change my ticket as possible so that I can be home on my father’s and my sister’s birthday. I was on the waiting list to fly in two days. I was told to wait for a call from them if my flight will be changed. Then we went to Gateway of India which is located in front of the Taj Mahal. My friend and I took some pictures. Then we walked and tried to find Western Union office to claim the money that my sister sent to me. I was really glad because I was already out of money. We went to nearby shops and bought some souvenirs. We to Mahalaxmi station to ride a train going home. We went to the guy’s house for our worship. After that one my friend accompanied me to Shopper’s Stop (crossword to by some DVDs). My friend bought great movies for me. I was really happy.
