Another year to remember our loved ones who lost their lives of the terrorists attack on 911. God bless the ones who served to protect our  freedom. We all need to be reminded about 9-11 and what it did to our lives and how it brought us all together. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 27,765 out of 64,459 passed the Nurse (First Timers, Repeaters, Removals) Licensure Examination given by the Board of Nursing in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last June 2008. When I was in high school, I really wanted to enrol in martial arts because I wanted to become a black belter. One of the things that interest me about it is the Martial Arts Gear and uniform. When I told my parents about it they were not happy. I understood though because it would mean that they need to pay another expenses. Even it is not that expensive, it would be an additional burden for my parents because I also have younger siblings that were in school. I am glad though that my younger brother enrolled in martial arts during summer.

My photo hunt entries this week. Do you think this frog can hop that high? there a huge percentage of impossibilities with that right? Sometimes in our lives their are things that we think it is impossible that we can do it. But the we can do it if we think we can. When we dream we should dream high. We attain that dream when we the will to do it. Just like the frog, it can reach to that high level by adding some steps in it or by the help of someone.

This is me walking or crossing in the “cat walk log” how many feet above the ground. It felt like I was already in the second layer of the atmospheric area. Scary. It was taken when our team had our fun day. We went to the ropes course. One of the advantage to it is that you can conquer your fears. I have a fear of heights and because of that I slowly conquered my fears.

This is a sunrise photo I took this morning. I really like it. The beauty of itself is beyond description. It reflects God’s mighty and marvelous works. Just lately I take time to be able to witness the sun rises everyday if given a chance. I do accept that there were so many times that I just ignored it. Today I was working on swing shift. We had a patient pushing with baby’s head was already visible, when my phone rang. It was a call from a friend of mine. We were classmates in college. We have known each other since 1994. I was glad she called but it was not a perfect timing. I answered her like less than a minute and I told her to call me later since there is a baby about to be born in to this world. I was glad she called me an hour after. We had a good conversation. It feels so nice when a friend calls you.

This picture was taken 9 years ago December 1998. I was just a newly midwife by then. We used to have a 24 hour shift. Only 3 midwives on duty. It was one of the busiest shift I had. I can’t imagine how we handled this. One of the co-midwife was having backaches so she just charted and only me and the other one delivered the babies. It was an exhausting day. But when we look at the babies, they melt our hearts away. They are worth for our hard work. Now these babies are already 8 y.o. I can’t imagine.

God protected us from harm today. After I took the exam, my sister, my friend and I went to eat at McDonald. My sister asked if I want to go a specific mall for relaxation and  fun. I decided not to go because I was so tired and wanted to sleep. So we just went to back to the hotel where we stayed. Just right after we arrived there was a flash news in the television about the bombing in a mall. Much to our surprise it was the mall that we planned to go to. God really do miracles and great protection. Thanks God.

This is my first home birth delivery as a nurse-midwife. My cousin delivered her 3rd baby on Nov. 09, 2002, at home. This was my first delivery experience outside the clinic or hospital. It took a lot of courage and faith that God will take good care of everything. It was a different feeling because I am helping my cousin not just other patients that I took care of, that I am not blood related. It was a pressure because the whole family was depending on me with the birth. To God be the glory all things went well. The baby came out fast with no problems. A baby boy named Kent. It was a victorious event not just for me but the whole clan. It was the first time I felt I am really a nurse-midwife. It was so fulfilling..

This is me taken when I did a prenatal check up. I injected this patient with tetanus injection for prevention of tetanus.
Every pregnant women living in an area where there is neonatal tetanus should be vaccinated against tetanus at the first antenatal visit or every pregnancy. If she has not previously had the full course of tetanus protection, she should be vaccinated again 1-2 months later, then again 6 months after that.
