Do you suffer from Candida?
In my field of work, we care for pregnant women. One of their problems is having candida. During pregnancy, women are prone to have it because of the hormonal changes that affects the vaginal flora. They usually experience itchiness and some whitish discharge. We do health teachings to avoid and treat the problem. We emphasized to them to be very particular with personal hygiene, avoid using soap to clean the perineal area, change underwear frequently, avoid food that are causing the problem, and wash with vinegar wash ( 2 Table spoon of vinegar in 1 liter of lukewarm water)- it will help soothe the itchiness at the same time it neutralizes the area to avoid more irritation. If these remedies do not help we refer them to the doctor for a medication.
These are foods to avoid: yeast products, cakes, malt, hydrolysed vegetable protein, fermented products (eg vinegar), blue or ripe soft cheese, tomato products (excluding fresh tomatoes), mushrooms, smoked foods, tinned fruits, nuts, sugar and dried herbs.
